When the investigator knocks : be prepared

Abstract: The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (the "Department") is one of the oldest labor enforcement agencies in the federal government. Historically, the primary focus of the Department has been the investigation of minimum wage and overtime violations under the Fair Labor and Standards Act. However, the Tennessee employers should be aware that the Department investigates (and therefore can find an employer liable for) violations of a number of other laws.
