MTAS analyzed several questions related to legal implications associated with changing a certain employee's employment status.

MTAS responded to an inquiry as to whether Tennessee municipalities may utilize Sourcewell for purchasing. Sourcewell is a service cooperative created by the Minnesota legislature as a local unit of government and open to all education and government entities, as well as nonpublic schools and nonprofit organizations.

Thirty-one cities, counties, and departments were asked several questions about their use of pre-paid legal services.

MTAS asked fifteen Tennessee cities about their meter readers and what the responsibilities are in that job.

MTAS was asked whether an employee, who has not completed the city's probationary period and is deployed, is entitled to the 20 days of leave.

MTAS was asked several questions about appointments to boards and committees in general and specific questions about the Board of Water Commissioners in particular.

MTAS was asked about the advisability of spending city funds to improve a road outside of the city limits.

In this FY2014 annual report, there are a total of ten services measured and analyzed: building code enforcement, employment benefits, finance, fire, human resources, parks and recreation, planning and zoning, police, property maintenance code enforcement, and refuse collection, disposal, and recycling.

MTAS was asked whether the mayor may appoint himself a member of the electric board, subject to the confirmation of the board of mayor and aldermen.

In August 2018, the agency completed a comprehensive 5–year strategic planning process facilitated by MTAS Fire Management Consultant Steven Cross. This process is part of the process of earning accreditation through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).
