MTAS purchasing guide and sample purchasing procedures (2024 update)
Tennessee has many general laws that govern purchasing by municipalities including the 1983 Municipal Purchasing Law, the Competitive Sealed Proposals provisions under T.C.A. 12-3-1207, the Contracts for Professional Services provisions under T.C.A. 12-3-1209 and 12-4-107, the Interlocal Cooperation Act, the Iran Divestment Act, etc.
The MTAS Purchasing Guide provides a general overview and citations for those general laws, and the accompanying MTAS Sample Purchasing Procedures contain best practices for implementing the state and federal regulations.

MTAS was asked whether the utility board can reduce the health benefits of the management team members to the same level it reduces the health benefits of utility board members.
Drainage issues and questions about drainage work on private property in Spring City, Tennessee
A review of areas of Spring City where residents had complained about drainage problems, as well as a recommendation against the town doing drainage work on private property due to various legal, liability and risk management issues. Other measures to address the complaints include cleaning out or replacing drainage tiles and/or obtaining easements in order to grade ditches.
Tennessee Department of Agriculture 2007 Urban Forestry Funding
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry is accepting urban forestry project proposals from local governments, private nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions. Project proposals for 2007 that address the development of ordinances, staffing, management planning, and advisory organization will be given priority for funding.
