Good Afternoon MTAS,

Happy New Fiscal Year! Okay, yes, I know it doesn’t have the same ring, or enthusiasm as January 1, but I don’t need too much of an excuse to celebrate. I hope the first six months of the calendar year were good for you, and that you’re well on your way to achieving your goals for the year. Please let me know if there are any barriers that I can remove to help you do your best work.

Last week we had a work anniversary. Congratulations to Joe C. on hitting his one year mark with MTAS on June 24!

Also last week was the TML conference in Memphis. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, mostly because time after time, someone would come up to me and brag on the service that you are providing. Again and again I heard “I wouldn’t have made it without MTAS” and “You make my job so much easier” and “I can’t imagine not having MTAS to help.” I was the recipient of all the “thank yous” for all that you do. My cheeks hurt at times from all the smiling I did. So, I want to share this with you and to give you one more “Thank you” from me. I was so happy hearing about all the positive differences you make. When you get so much positive feedback at one time, it’s a little overwhelming. I think I was up to the task though! You impress me, and you impress your customers, and they are vocal. When you look at the collective impact of MTAS, the results truly are staggeringly fantastic. You may not think too much of the little “thing” that you did for a customer, but for the customer, that “thing” may have made all the difference to him/her. Way to go MTAS!!

Speaking of great customer service, I have a kudos to share with you. This one comes from the fire chief in White House, that was handwritten to Dennis for his work on an assessment center. Chief Rico Bryson said:
Thank you and MTAS for all of your help with the White House Fire Dept. “Captain Promotion Process,” it would not have been a success without you. The WHFD is greatly appreciative and if you ever need the WHFD for any reasons, let me know.
Well done Dennis and team for the successful assessment center in White House.

Changing subjects, did you know that today is the day that the state law goes into effect on hands-free cell phone use? The General Assembly’s website (
http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB0173&GA=111) summarizes the bill this way:
Traffic Safety - As enacted, prohibits a person from physically holding or supporting, with any part of the person's body, a wireless telecommunications device or stand-alone electronic device while operating a motor vehicle; imposes other similar restrictions on activities such as texting; creates certain exceptions. - Amends TCA Title 55, Chapter 10 and Title 55, Chapter 8.
If you’d like to read the bill in its entirety, use this link to HB 164/SB 173 (Public Chapter 412):
https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/acts/111/pub/pc0412.pdf. If you recall the TV show “Hill Street Blues” from the 1980s, then this one’s for you: “Let’s be careful out there.”

Here is another tidbit of hopefully useful information: I received an email last week from ParTNners for Health about a free service - if you need a service provider (plumber, electrician, baby sitter, etc.) and don’t know who to call, use the referral service from the state called WorkLife. The number is 855-Here4TN (855-437-3486). To read more about this benefit, please refer to the June newsletter from ParTNers for Health at
http://enews.g-bro.net/eSoT/public.html?accesstoken=93b1a6222217a63a928fe95a1c7f6b2d. They even have a short video about their many services. Check it out and safe yourself some time.

I hope you have a fabulous Fourth of July holiday this week!
Margaret
