Good Tuesday Morning MTAS,

So, is working from home “normal” to you yet? I’m hopeful that you are all getting into the swing of things and have adapted to the new situation.

To have a little fun with the work from home reality, I’d like you to pick a MTASer that you don’t normally interact with and take a couple of minutes to do the MTAS MadLib, attached. What is a MadLib? It’s a fill-in-the-blank game where one person (person one) asks the second person (person two) for a verb, noun, adjective, pronoun, or adverb and writes the answer into the template. When all the blanks are filled, person one reads the story to person two. I played this as a kid and can tell you that my nephews today still think it’s a cool game. I hope you agree. If you want to play, please don’t open the attachment until you pick a partner and decide who will play which role. If you know the story line in advance, it’s not nearly as much fun, so no peeking! If you’d like to share your results for me to include in a future Mustard, feel free to send me the story along with the two players involved.

Okay, we know work is not all fun and games, so here’s the serious stuff to update you on from the last week. Please remember to complete your APR survey for Chris Shults who is studying the process IPS uses (this is an IPS strategic goal). He sent the original email with a link to the survey on April 1 and then sent a reminder on April 8. The survey closes April 15 (Wednesday -tomorrow). He estimates it should take less than ten minutes to complete. Your opinion matters, so please share it by finding Chris’ email and responding.

Another reminder is to nominate your peers/colleagues for an IPS award. Tomi sent an email today saying that the deadline has been extended to May 1 (the deadline was originally set for this week). I love seeing MTAS employees getting recognized for their great work at the annual conference. Please help me out by writing a nomination for a fellow MTASer. If we don’t have any nominations, then we’re guaranteed not to win any awards! We do tremendous work at MTAS and I want to see you get public recognition for your efforts.

You know I can’t let a Mustard go without celebrating our team members with special occasions from the previous week. This week, I’d like to call your attention to Rex who had a work anniversary on the tenth. Rex, thanks for all the years of helping to keep TN police departments in tip-top shape. I wonder how many times you have shared that drug fund flow chart over those years?

To all: be safe, continue to wash your hands and separate yourself from others. By doing things right now, we’ll be able to return to the office, and to our customers in the field, that much sooner. I’m happy to report that no IPS employees have tested positive for the virus. Keep up the good work y’all!

Most sincerely,
Margaret
