Navigating social media use for Wisconsin public officials after Lindke v. Freed / Rick A. Manthe and Scott J. Smith

Abstract: Social media has become a crucial tool for public officials to provide a direct line of communication to their constituents (and vice versa). However, while social media offers numerous benefits, it also introduces complex legal challenges, particularly with respect to the First Amendment. The U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision in Lindke v. Freed provides essential guidance on these issues.
