Update #15:

This note serves as the update on the work associated with the move of IPS offices to the new building at 1610 University Avenue, in Knoxville. The committee discussions are captured in the SharePoint site at

The building is empty and awaiting the next step of the project. We are continuing to work with the university system and the architect to finalize plans for project completion by July 23 ^rd . We have reviewed what seem to be the final plans to be distributed for bid, and the architect is updating the project cost estimates. Over the next few weeks we can expect the following:

1. The work of the architect will be mostly complete in January, the project will be submitted to the State Fire Marshal’s office for review, and will be prepared for bid.

2. Work is still underway on the office furniture inventory. The design staff is concerned both about current furniture fitting into the new offices without blocking windows and doors and about grouping furniture similar in design and appearance within the same room or suite. They will be giving us recommendations, and in turn Rick Whitehead and I will discuss any necessary changes with the impacted office holder. After we return from the winter break we should have some idea about what furniture fits in each office and what doesn’t.

3. We have also asked that the design group try to incorporate the needs of the Foundation into the need for furniture, and we are hoping to make decent furniture available for the Foundation from the furniture that was in the new building.
