In this age of greater concern for securing sensitive data, the UT System Information Security Office (ISO) has recommended that we provide tighter security to the IRIS system for anyone connecting to IRIS via the SAPGui desktop client outside of the campus networks (NOTE: This does NOT affect users connecting to IRIS via the Web Gui). Beginning 1/15/2016, changes will be implemented to enforce tighter security.

The following access methods are implemented securely and will NOT be subject to the tighter requirements:
· Users accessing IRIS via SAPGui on the main campus networks in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Martin, Memphis, or Tullahoma

· Users accessing IRIS via the web/portal (
https://irisweb.tennessee.edu
)

· Users associated with the Knoxville campus accessing IRIS via Apps@UTK

Other users must use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to create an “on-campus” connection that allows access to IRIS via the SAPGui. This includes anyone using the SAPGui:
· From their office location, which is not on one of the main campus networks

· From home

· Via a workstation while travelling

Each of the main campuses has a VPN solution that may be used by their employees. Persons associated with the Institute of Agriculture, the Institute of Public Service, and the University System offices may use the VPN supported for the Knoxville network. Persons working with the Foundation should use the VPN for the campus at which they reside. Instructions for accessing the various campus VPNs can be found at:
http://iris.tennessee.edu
. On the left side of the page, at the bottom of the “Getting Started” section, click on “Virtual Private Network (VPN)”:

If you need assistance, please call or email the campus contacts provided on this page.

If you need to access IRIS via the SAPGui desktop client outside of one of the campus networks, it is strongly encouraged to install the VPN for your campus before January 15.
