Update #14:
This note serves as the bi-weekly update on the work associated with the move of IPS offices to the new building at 1610 University Avenue, in Knoxville. The committee discussions are captured in the SharePoint site at
https://utworks.tennessee.edu/ips/1610/SitePages/Home.aspx .
While a great deal of the committee work is on hold until we get closer to the planned July 23 rd move date, we are continuing to work with the university system and the architect to finalize plans. Over the next few weeks we should see a concentration on finalizing the plans and further work on the furniture inventory:
1. The architect is hoping to have the updated designs that we have discussed by Dec. 19. The plans have been further altered to include a unisex restroom and a lactation room on the second floor, as required and funded by UTK.
2. The Planning Committee is determining who is planning to leave their furniture in their present offices in favor of using the furniture available in the new building. We know that we have at least one individual planning to do so.
3. The staff with the Lauderdale Design Group is inventorying cubicles and furniture for the architectural firm. Part of this process requires an assessment of the furniture that can be moved to the new building, moved to surplus, stored somewhere else or disposed of. This will require piece-by-piece decisions, and LDG has developed a general sense of which pieces will and will not fit in the new building. They will be working with Rick Whitehead and Stephanie Allen to identify any furniture for all offices of IPS that won’t fit or that is unnecessary for the move. A meeting is under development to work out the final decisions on this.
