During today’s tour of the building at 1610 University Avenue the university pushed the move to the new building back at least until next Thursday. We are still planning for the open house for staff moving into the building for tomorrow – Friday, November 13, between 11 am and 1:30 pm.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office provided comments about the timing of the strobes in the fire alarms and some of the older alarms in the ductwork. In addition, some of the finishes and HVAC issues have not reached the stage of substantial completion to allow the university to accept the building and start the warranties. These issues should be addressed by next Wednesday.

The schedule presently is that the 2 nd floor offices of IPS – Administration, CTAS and CIS – will start moving Thursday of next week (November 19), with a goal of being completely moved before Thanksgiving (November 26). The 1 st floor offices of IPS – primarily MTAS – will move the week after Thanksgiving, but if the 2 nd floor moves are completed on a faster schedule the move will also be earlier.

The Foundation is considering move dates, but the offices are complete and available on the same schedule as the 2 nd floor offices of IPS.

As Judie Martin has previously noted for those making the move:

1. The sneak a peek at the new offices and lunch is still scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 from 11:00-1:30.
2. You do not need to mark your trash cans or recycling cans as they will provide new ones at the new office.
3. Do not unplug your telephone. Telephone services will do so and move the phone to the new location.
4. If you have completed your parking forms and not given them to Judie, please do so.
5. Keep your keys to your present offices. Judie will collect them individually after the move.
6. If you didn’t get your ID card updated, please do so ASAP. Your new ID card will serve as the proximity card to allow you into the new building.
7. Movers are coming on Thursday to help move furniture for the 2 nd floor offices, so please be ready.
8. If you receive mail at your current office address please update your mailing address to the new building:

Knoxville, TN 37921-6741

Thank you for your service to the university and to the state of Tennessee, and I do look forward to a successful move.
