Good Afternoon
I’m pleased to announce that
Dr. Macel Ely
was selected to serve as the new director for the Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership.

With his background at the Naifeh Center, his experience as a training manager and his partnerships across the state, Macel will capably lead the Naifeh Center into the future. We’re pleased to have someone with his experience and many talents taking the helm of the center.

Macel, who is currently training program manager for IPS’s Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS), served as a training specialist with the Naifeh Center from 2007-2013. He succeeds former Naifeh Director Dr. Gary Peevely, who retired in the spring.

Macel, who will begin his tenure at the Naifeh Center on Oct. 1, received a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Kentucky Wesleyan University, as well as a master’s in public administration and doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from UT Knoxville.

Please join me in congratulating Macel on his new position within the Institute for Public Service.
