Update #11:

This note serves as the bi-weekly update on the work associated with the move of IPS offices to the new building at 1610 University Avenue, in Knoxville. The committee discussions are captured in the SharePoint site at
https://utworks.tennessee.edu/ips/1610/SitePages/Home.aspx
.

There are continuing improvements and changes in the project as we move forward, and in brief:

1. We are working with UT Utilities Services and the architect to finalize the plans for changes to the new building. We are hoping to have a design review meeting this week, and unless there are major changes necessary the project will next move into the tour by the state fire marshal’s office and to bid. We understand that at this point the schedule has not changed.

2. We have asked for clarification on some of the budget estimates. The budget relies on both the amounts to be funded by IPS (MTAS and Central Office) and the funding by UTK, so we are working to stay under budget and under the cap adopted by the State Building Commission.

3. The architect (Brewer, Ingram and Fuller) is working with a firm to finalize with us the inventory of cubicles and office furniture. From this inventory we should be able to estimate any additional needs.

4. The project teams continue to move forward with planning and discussions to make the move easier. Again, some of this depends on the final drawings and estimates, but briefly:

a. The Planning Team has work underway for the selection of carpet and paint, and is also the lead on the inventory of cubicle walls and furniture with the architect.

b. The Logistics team is considering parking issues that need to be addressed in the MOU that we hope to develop with the church for shared parking, and is reviewing staff issues with on-site and street parking.

c. The IT team has been working with OIT to resolve data drop and telephone access.

d. The Business team is reviewing the issue of copiers and copy service to the staff from the Foundation that will be co-located with IPS, and the use of key entry codes for the copiers.

5. The next project management team meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 22 at 10:30 am.
