Earlier today the UT Board of Trustees’ Executive and Compensation Committee approved the acquisition and build out for the facilities on University Avenue in Knoxville. The committee voted to relocate the Institute for Public Service, MTAS, and the CIS and CTAS regional offices to the properties on University Avenue.
The proposal to make the final purchase has to go before the state building commission and then the purchase has to be negotiated. Once everything is finalized, I will appoint a committee to work with the system and Facilities Services to select paint colors, carpet, etc. I will have more information at a later date of when the move might occur.
For the first time in its history, IPS will not be located on the UT Knoxville campus and will have its own freestanding building. I am excited about what this means for the institute and its agencies.
