Fellow MTASers,

Only a few minutes prior to her sending out her very important message to all of us, Mary convened the directors along with Steve and Chuck to let us know of her retirement plans. Quite frankly, it wasn’t an OCS call I expected to get this morning. But, we did…and we’ll move on. We have 345 towns and cities who expect us to do so. More importantly right now, we, as fellow MTAS employees, should expect each other to do so.

Dr. DiPietro will be appointing an interim vice president and will be launching a national search to fill the vacancy created by Mary’s retirement. Right now, I’m not aware of his timetable to do either, but you’ll know when I know.

Mary devoted 31 years of her working career to the University of Tennessee. As an alumnus, and as an employee for the last three years, I’m very grateful for her service. She deserves…and I wish her…only the best in her retirement.
