Professional Development and NLC - July 3, 2003

Please review your entries in the professional development plan database. Next year some out of state conferences will be approved. You may not have included out of state conferences when you made your entries a couple of weeks ago. Please think about it some more and make any additional entries by Monday, July 14.

On a related matter, the National League of Cities annual Congress of Cities will be in Nashville this December 9 - 13. The NLC gives us a chance to get a quick exposure to city issues on a national basis without having to travel out of state. So, it makes sense to send a lot of consultants. During the TML conference last week, NLC was running a special on the cost of conference registration. I took advantage of the special and registered a bunch of us (unfortunately not everyone who had asked to go - and some who hadn't considered it). Here's the list of who will attend - Frances, David, Kurt, Gary, Ronnie, Melissa, Dennis, Warren, Margaret, Bob, Sally, Mike, Sharon, Ron, Don, and Pat. We'll work out the details of dates and room reservations later. The conference is at the Opryland Hotel, but trust me, we won't be staying there.
