· Even if you have nothing in your wallet, nothing can keep you from having a great summer. You can listen to crickets sing you to sleep, trace the Big Dipper, breathe in the stars, run through a sprinkler, host a cartwheel contest in the front yard. Regina Brett

· Let me know when you hold the cartwheel contest in your front yard. Sure don’t want to miss watching that!

· This morning, really enjoyed hearing Becky describe the findings of her research on what and how elected officials in some east Tennessee cities learned about things related to their jobs. Makes me wonder what else we need to know about the subject that would help us deliver MTAS services even more effectively. Good work, Becky. Thank you.

· The 2016 IPS Annual Conference Award Nominations are due by the close of business on Friday, June 10, 2016. A description of each award can be found here

· Professional city management in Tennessee was greatly impacted this week by one event and one announcement. Janice Casteel, city manager in Cleveland, retired Monday after 42 years of service to the city. Yesterday, Mitchell Moore, city manager in Athens and longtime member (and current chair) of the MTAS Advisory Board, announced his plans to retire effective December 31, 2016. Combined years of public service by those two…almost 80! Amazing! Only the best to both of them!

· Happy birthday to Melissa on Wednesday, June 8 th . Uh, let me see…39 th , I believe.

· Lastly, remember a few things…
o What each of you do every day for our customers and each other is recognized and appreciated. Really! It is!

o Almost 12 hours of televised play from the Memorial Golf Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Course in Dublin, Ohio this weekend. Oh, the excitement of it all! I know you’ll want to catch every minute.
