Update #5:

This note serves as the bi-weekly update on the discussions and recommendations associated with the move of IPS offices to the new building at 1610 University Avenue, in Knoxville. Some of the committee notes are being updated, but otherwise the committee discussions are captured in the SharePoint site at
https://utworks.tennessee.edu/ips/1610/SitePages/Home.aspx
.

In brief:

· We now know our university neighbor. The UT Foundation will be moving into the smaller building acquired by the university near the one that IPS will occupy. We have been planning to reserve space in our building for another tenant, and the Foundation will use this space to place 5 employees in the IPS building.

· The building will be available for you to visit shortly. The external doors have been re-keyed by the university, and we are expecting keys next week. We will hold the building open for staff visits the week of June 9, and will provide a schedule for open hours. If we have keys before then we’ll make the building available earlier.

· Gail White has been working with the Knoxville campus concerning services to the new building. UTK has been great and very willing to support us on security and maintenance.

· We have 110+ parking spaces at the building, which should be adequate for our staff needs, but we need to have an reciprocal agreement with the nearby church (Clinton Chapel AME) to allow overflow parking for large events for us and for the church. The church is receptive to an agreement, and we are working with UTK on this.

· The OIT is also working with us to develop a plan for telephones and data ports, and I am very pleased with the work of our staff and that of UTK on these efforts.

· The planning team has provided a list of priority projects for the building to the building architect, and the architect is pricing these options. The budget for the project, including capital improvements, painting, carpet, library relocation, signage (internal and external), cabinets and furniture is $300,000, and we’ll keep the project within this budget.
