STAFF UPDATE
May 24, 1994

* Telephone Surveys - We've enclosed the latest library telephone surveys.

TML Booth - Carol (with help from Sally and Armintha) is handling the MTAS booth at the TML convention. If you're going to the convention and you haven't already been drafted for booth duty, you will be soon.

*Position Wanted - Margaret Pratt interned with MTAS last summer and fall. She graduates in August and is looking for a job. Please pass her resume on to any city that might be interested. Thanks.

*Solid Waste Plans - Enclosed is a sixth generation copy of a memo from Paul Evan Davis, Director, Division of Solid Waste Assistance. No regional solid waste plan will be considered complete without ratification by the County Commission.

The People Speak - At least, the electorate of the IPMA (International Personnel Management Asso ciation) has spoken. At its recent meeting, Rick Stokes won the election for the Southern Region Representative on the IPMA International Executive Council. He will represent the TN Chapter on the Executive Board of the Southern Region and will represent the 13 states of the southern region on the International Executive Council. It is a three year term. Congratulations, Rick!

Local Government Public Works Standards and Specifications - The big news for Ed is that this publication is finished! I'm sure he hopes to be long gone before it is time for a new edition. Not only is it long, it is probably the most technical and compli cated publications we've published.

Other news related to this publication is that order forms will go out to cities and only one free copy will be provided each city on request. After the first copy, the charge for this publication is $100. Private engineers will have to pay $100 for each copy. The publication is available in both paper and disk format. The price is the same for each. The publication is at the printers now and the order forms will go out in a couple of weeks.

If you would like a personal copy of this publication, let Carol know. And, congratulations Ed!

*Management Team Meeting - The Management team met May 18. Here are the minutes (taken this time by Sharon Rollins) and, as a special bonus two items from the management team conference call on May 23.

New Intern - Janie Reed has joined MTAS for the next six months as an intern. She will be in the Knoxville office. She will work on various projects for me for the first couple of months and will then be available to assist consultants. Janie is almost done with her MPA from UTK and is interested in working in city government in Tennessee when she finishes her degree.
