TIBERS - That's the Tennessee Incident Based Electronic Reporting System. For the last five years they have asked Rex to speak at their annual conference. Last Tuesday morning, he spoke in front of about 400 members. Two-thirds are city people with the rest county and state. The membership includes the clerks, officers, and command staff who work with the state-wide reporting system. This year Rex spoke about the Tennessee Open Records law as it relates to police departments. Part of his presentation was based on an extensive legal opinion prepared by Sid. Congratulations to Rex on a good presentation. Sounds like they will keep asking him back.

Professional Development Database - It's time to make your entries for professional development for FY2003. Please have your plan keyed in by May 31. Based on the state budget situation, we will continue to forgo almost all out of state travel. But, please include any of your out of state requests. This gives me a better idea of what we need and will help us when the budget gets fixed.

TML Annual Conference - The TML conference is in Knoxville starting Saturday, June 8. Sally and Jennifer are working on the Elected Officials Academy training to be offered on Friday, June 7. So, it's all happening pretty soon. Here's a copy of the current DRAFT of the program for the conference.
