MTAS Staff,

Dr. DiPietro and I are committed to making the University of Tennessee an “Employer of Choice.” Dr. DiPietro has received a series of letters and emails recently that indicate we may not be on the right track with MTAS. In an effort to continue the things we are doing well and to work on areas that need focus or where there are concerns, we have asked Linda Hendricks, Vice President of Human Resources, to conduct a needs assessment with all MTAS staff.

Each staff member will have an interview with a member of a statewide assessment team. What you share will be confidential, and it is important that you are candid about your experience and what we can do to move MTAS toward an employer of choice. The assessment team will provide an overview of what they heard. They will not attribute comments to specific individuals to maintain confidentiality. Based on those findings, Linda will share recommended strategies for improvement and enhancement. She will host a statewide video conference to share the results with you.

Members of the assessment team are: Chandra Alston, Associate Vice Chancellor, HR, UTHSC; Linda Hendricks, Vice President, HR, System; Sherry Sims, Executive Assistant to the Vice President, HR System; Ron Tredway, Director, Employee and Organizational Development, HR System and Dan Webb, Human Resources Officer, UTC. A member of the team will be contacting you to schedule a face-to-face interview. Please be as flexible as you can with your calendar. The assessment team is planning to conduct interviews between Friday, May 16 through Friday, May 30.

I am committed to strengthening the areas where we do well and to improving areas that need focus and improvement, and I know Jim is as well.
