Timing - I've skipped a couple of issues for the staff update. We'll have more in the future. Database 'Bulletin Board', View 'News from the Executive Director', Document '03/27/2001 News from the Executive Director' Here's another one with today's date that contains the February 16 memo with our new organization chart.

IPS Exchange - Each month about the time you get your paycheck, you get a copy of the IPS Exchange . You may have wondered about how stories get submitted. Armintha is the MTAS reporter. If you have anything you would like included, please email it to her. Thanks.

PDQs - We are in the process of updated everyone's position data questionnaire. The University has given us an extra couple of weeks, so I've taken it. I'm about a third of the way through our list of job descriptions. I will finish this week and will ask that you return yours to me soon (of course, I have to send it to your first).

Annual Leave and Phone Calls - This is a repeat from my earlier email. I don't need to repeat it and you don't need to read it again. Putting it here gives me a place to file it.

1 - Annual leave is to be requested in advance. Use the paper leave form and forward it to your supervisor. If the time is short, send your supervisor an email requesting leave approval and follow up with the paper form. We will, one day, eliminate the paper form but we are waiting for the new University IRIS program for human resources. AND, this is critical, annual leave is to be requested for all time when you are being paid, but not working. When in doubt, check with your supervisor.

Sick leave is to be requested when you return, but a phone call to your supervisor or the office will let us know where you are.

If you fill out the travel itinerary (and all consultants do), please be sure to be explicit. That is, if you are going to be in the office, please list "Office" instead of a blank. It will make it easier for all of us to keep up with all of us.

2- University phones are not to be used for personal long distance calls. We have, in the past, permitted some personal calls with reimbursement each month. This will not be permitted in the future.

One phone call home per day when you are traveling overnight or are on the road late is considered a business call and not a personal call.
