North Carolina's gain; our loss - Dianna Al-Habib has resigned from her position with the codes team. She's going to work for the library at Central Carolina Community College in her hometown of Sanford, NC. Her last day with MTAS will be Friday, April 5. Dianna has been Administrative Services Assistant with the codes team since February 2001. She has also been my kitchen cleanup partner. I'll miss her, but Steve and the rest of the codes team have a more serious loss.

MTAS Advisory Committee meetings - The MTAS advisory committees met last week in Jackson on Tuesday, Nashville on Wednesday, and Knoxville on Thursday.

Here's my summary of the meetings. As often happens, although we had three separate meetings with three separate groups of city officials, some of the conclusions were the same.
  • We were reminded of the tremendous support city officials have for the work we do.
  • The city officials agreed to work to continue our state funding.
  • If the state funding falls apart, they agreed to look at additional local funding, but generally agreed that fees at the time of service were not the favored option.
