Happy Saint Patrick's Day! (a day late)

CG&L - We are experiencing several changes with our contract with Construction Grants and Loan for water and wastewater assistance. The first change is that CG&L is no more. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has reorganized and what CG&L used to do, along with its old staff is now part of the Division of Community Assistance. The Department of Community Assistance has asked that MTAS, CTAS, and CIS consolidate our contracts into one contract under IPS. This will include our water and wastewater assistance along with CTAS' solid waste assistance and several programs of CIS. Beginning July 1, I have asked Bill Young to serve as project manager for our contract. Our submittal for the next fiscal year is a little over $324,000. As always, it's important to correctly charge any water or wastewater assistance to this contract.

New hires - We have hired two new municipal management consultants. Both will start April 1 and both are going to join us at the MTAS retreat next week. Jeff Minor will be in Jackson. He has about 25 years experience as a city manager including a small city in Maryland, almost 12 years in Leesburg, VA, and about three years each with a township in Michigan (near East Lansing) and a suburb of Providence, RI. Warren Nevad will be in Knoxville. He has about twelve years experience with service as an assistant manager for two cities in Florida and service as city manager for Sugar Hill, GA (a suburb of Atlanta). Please make them feel welcome at the retreat. I've promised them that they won't have to learn everyone's name until at least Tuesday.
