Hiring Freeze - Our Vice President, Tom Ballard, has initiated a hiring freeze for all IPS positions. This is until the budget situation is resolved. In the meantime, we have suspended our recruitments for five positions: Research Specialist in Nashville, IT Administrator II (system analyst) in Knoxville, IPS Administrator I (publications administrator) in Knoxville, Administrative Support Assistant II (word processing specialist) in Knoxville for Codes, and IPS Consultant II (public works consultant) in Knoxville.

How many cities are there? - I've been wrong recently. (I've been telling people we have 348 cities.) The correct number is 349. We did have 351 but both Helenwood and Walnut Grove surrendered their charters. We still have three of the original "tiny towns" in existence - Hickory Withe, Three Way, and Midtown.

Flags at TML - I've asked Armintha to help coordinate the festival of city flags at the TML convention in June. So, if please let Armintha know if you know of a city with a flag other than: Shelbyville, Lebanon, McMinnville, Tullahoma , Collinwood, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, Jackson, Carthage, Elizabethton, Johnson City, Bristol, or Sevierville.
