244_3.gif Moving Day - Margaret and Ron are going to swap management consultant territories. It makes sense for both of them to move, one east and one west, and it makes sense for our customer service too. The territory exchange and relocation should be done by August.

Oak Ridge - Speaking of moving, we don't have a projected move day yet. Construction work has been halted pending submittal of some additional information from the UT architect working on the project to the State Fire Marshal's Office. We estimate we will have about three month's of construction work to do when construction starts again. But we don't know when it will start again.

Recruiting - We are recruiting for an Administrative Support Assistant III to replace Nancy Gibson with the codes team. And we have changed the position that Debbie Howell had. It will now be in Knoxville and is an Administrative Specialist II position. The primary duties for this position will be maintaining the government mailing list database.

MTAS advisory committees - The next round of MTAS advisory committee meetings are in April.
Jackson - Tuesday April 11
Nashville - Wednesday April 12
Knoxville - Thursday April 13

IPS Strategic Plan - Information about the development of the IPS strategic plan will be posted on the IPS intranet from time to time. Justin sent an email earlier today with the details about how to access this. Please review it so you can keep up with the plans.

Post graduate intern - Honna Rogers has been hired as a full time management intern. She will be working for the cities of Cleveland, Athens, and East Ridge with the close help of Mike Tallent. This is a limited duration appointment with MTAS with the cities funding the position. Our goal is to help these cities with several projects and to help prepare the intern for a job as an city manager or assistant city manager in Tennessee.

Other interns - I've been calling cities to help locate internships for MPA students from UT Knoxville who are in the middle of their two-year course work. The cities of Clinton, Sevierville, Morristown, and Alcoa will have interns this summer. The students will be on the MTAS payroll from the middle of May until the middle of August. The cities will be funding these positions. We hope to be able to add more cities next year and, if so, we may expand the program to include students from more schools. Our goal is to attract more young people to local government as a profession and to assist the MPA program on campus.
