Update #16:

We have not distributed an update in a few weeks, and with this note I’ll bring you to speed with the project. The committees continue to hold discussions on their area of service, and the committee discussions are captured in the SharePoint site at
https://utworks.tennessee.edu/ips/1610/SitePages/Home.aspx .

The building is empty and awaiting the next step of the project. We are continuing to work with the university system and the architect to finalize plans for an anticipated project completion of July 23 ^rd . The architect has submitted the updated plans to the State Fire Marshall’s Office for review. The SFMO has not committed yet as to whether smoke detection over the library area is acceptable as a fire safeguard, or instead if we have to look at alternates or alternate locations. This submission will move the question forward. This review is expected to take about 30 days, and in March the project should be distributed for bids.

Work is still underway on office furniture placement with the Logistics Team, including the furniture to be moved and placement recommendations. Some of the IPS furniture will be moving around, and the team will be contacting staff that face a furniture change. In the meantime, work also continues on the design for offices in the building the Foundation will occupy at 1525 University Avenue. The Foundation does also need access to any furniture that is available after our move.
