STAFF UPDATE
February 10, 1994

* Telephone Surveys and Calendars We've enclosed the latest library telephone surveys and the calendars for February and March.

Slight Change in Library Survey Policy Due to the fact that the demand for phone surveys at times exceeds the capacity of the library staff to provide the service in a timely manner and the fact that some cities are being hit so many times they no longer return our calls, we are reducing the number of phone surveys by no longer conducting surveys for salary information collected in Rick's annual survey. We will continue to make calls for information not included in the annual salary and fringe benefits survey, but will not update information that Rick updates annually anyway. All other survey requests on other topics are fine. Don't hesitate to ask for library services of any kind, except that described above. Thanks!

* Sexual Harassment We've enclosed the UT brochure on Sexual Harassment. Also, we have a copy in the MTAS library of the results of the UT survey on gender in the work place.

10,000 and Growing! Who would have thought 10,000 things existed on the subject of municipal government? Well obviously there are that many and even more, because the library staff recently entered the 10,000th record into the online database of library materials. The database will tell you about some of the reports, books, pamphlets, ordinances, correspondence, articles, legal opinions, etc. that are available to you through your library. Explore the database at your leisure and let the library know if you see anything you want. It'll be there by fax or mail, as quickly as possible.

Everyone should have access to the database now through their office computer. If you need help using the database, let Carol know. And, don't hesitate to call the library for help getting information whether you used the online catalog or not. We made this available to you to try to provide another way to get to library resources, not to eliminate any of the old ways you use the library. Happy hunting!

* Sales Tax Our share of the February receipts was $97,901.50. That's 9.6% greater than last year. Our yearly total is almost $40,000 over our budget projections. We've enclosed a graph.
